Snowy petals with maroon brushings and stripes, tinged with lime green. Flowers are 6″ across and numerous. Truly a winged wonder.

Amaryllis Ruby Meyer

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Most of the exotic amaryllis varieties flower in deep maroons and burgundies, but Ruby Meyers blooms in slender starbursts of bright scarlet. Amaryllis Exotica – New

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

Every year we work with our favorite amaryllis grower to find new varieties and this one’s really unusual. This large flowered amaryllis opens a soft apricot with light striations, deeper veining and a rich apricot throat. Blossom form is wide and saucer shaped – very eye catching – and the flowers are produced in multiples atop each stem. A special color that’s in limited supply this year. See additional image in Photo Gallery above.

Big 28+ centimeter (circumference) bulbs produce two or more flower stalks with four or more blooms on each for lots of color.

The three of them, Gran, Jenny, and Seward, are drawn into a kind of deadly game with one another and with the sea, a game that only the sea knows how to win.

Amaryllis Melusine

Sunday, December 27th, 2009

Like just picked strawberries and vanilla cream swirled together, Melusine looks almost good enough to eat. Wide pointed petals frame a green throat that is splashed liberally with bright red. Multiple stems and lots of flowers per stem guarantee a bold burst of color. If you’re ready for a new type of amaryllis but like the classic wide petaled form, we recommend Melusine.
